Chile Logistics

We booked a lot of our trip to Chile in advance as the main reason for us going there was for the wedding in Concon. We chose to stay in 3 star accommodation through booking.com (except for the wedding) and were happy with what we got. We found that general expenses were about the same as what you would expect in Auckland. This did vary a little between each city we went to, but not by too much. Below is what we generally spent on a daily basis.

Top tips

  • Try to pay in cash where possible – they often have hidden fees. Particularly in smaller towns.
  • Have some US Dollars with you. Use this when booking tours, some accommodation, etc. Mainly in San Pedro De Atacama
  • Look to book tours and transport in person rather than online – there is some misleading info out there.
  • Use Uber – cheaper and safer than taxis
  • Book accommodation that includes breakfast
