Our two days in Lima was very very relaxing. It felt great to have an apartment where we could spread out cook and watch the NBA finals!
After a very delayed flight leaving Cusco we arrived in Lima late afternoon. Traffic is definitely worse than Auckland and it took us over an hour to travel from the airport to our apartment in Miraflores. Our driver was waiting at the airport and was organised by our host which was perfect. Seafood is big here in Lima and we searched for a little spot to enjoy some ceviche. We found a family owned restaurant and their menu was filled with an assortment of seafood, almost too overwhelming. We shared their traditional ceviche which exceeded my expectations! So fresh and zingy. 8/10 🌟
First time in three weeks we had access to a kitchen! Cooking was on the menu for breakfast and dinner. Just what we needed, James was chef for the night and served divine steak and roast veges!

We had a day to explore Lima. After checking out at 10am we went on a walk to the seaside Larcomar shopping mall. It’s a hidden little spot and we thought we had the wrong place. But tucked amongst the bank there is an outdoor mall, perfect to stroll through or enjoy a meal.
Top Tip:
Traffic is insane here in Lime! There ISN’T great public transport and to get an uber 8km away can take over 30mins!
This historical centre is incredible! It is surrounded by grand buildings and when we arrived there was a army parade in what looked like the government house. Lunch at Peru gourmet was the pick. The menu is MASSIVE, too much to choose from. A good 7/10 ⭐️with fresh ceviche and chicken and chips being the pick from the menu

Visiting the Basilica Cathedral of Lima & museum of religious art is a must. An old and beautiful building dating back to 1540. There are so many alcoves displaying the grand artwork and statues from other churches around the area. There are even tombs to walk through which was a little exciting and also terrifying.

On the way back to our apartment we stopped at Mellizos cafe. An organic spot ideal for gluten free beer, kombucha and cookies!
It was also a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful street art!
