Things to see
Everything in Bordeaux is very accessible. The city has great lanes for biking, electric scooters and walking. We really enjoyed strolling through the city in the late evening when it wasn’t too busy. The grass areas overlooking the river make a perfect evening picnic spot.
We had a very relaxing time in Bordeaux so spent most of it just strolling through the city and enjoying a few shops and food spots. We also happened to time our visit in the middle of a 40 degree heat wave. It was insane and walking wasn’t very easy so we decided to hire bikes which were great! We cycled to the outlet shops (not all that great) but it was a really lovely bike along the river! It really is the perfect city for biking, the lanes are safe and it means you can visit all the little side streets that are just outside of the main city. On the way back we found some gardens to bike through, this would have made another great picnic spot but the heat wouldn’t have made it enjoyable for us!

Top Tip:
The bike hire stalls can be really tricky to use. They also do take quite a large deposit which you do get back…. totally worth all the stress and fuss!
Food
Banana cafe was a very tasty little vegan cafe! Can highly recommend their smoothies. We did also use Ubereats on our first night….. and there are a lot of poke bowl places to choose from. Le Buro Des Possibles offers a great traditional French breakfast and their homemade James are amazing! Cafe Kokomo did beat this the next day as their açaí bowl and beacon pancakes kept us fulled all day in the heat wave! A lot of lunch places do stop serving their full menu before 3pm, we were excited to try the Kitchen Garden but they had closed the kitchen so we stumbled across Munchies. This is another vegan joint and we both had vegan hotdogs and their bounty bars, a little too yummy! Our classic platters were a big hit for dinner. After walking a lot of the day we were both quite tired over the heat and enjoyed our little Air BnB facilities.
We left Bordeaux for Paris on an early morning train. The walk there with all of our luggage in the heat was testing but the train was fantastic and we arrived in Paris ready to explore (if the heat wave cooperates).
