Paris Part One

The heat wave managed to follow us to Paris. We were actually here on the hottest day ever recorded on the 25th of July Paris was 42 degrees!!

We arrived at 11:30 and since our Air BnB wasn’t quite ready we downloaded the nanny bag app which is great for storing your bags for the day.

We had a great list from Emma so our first stop was a walk to BHV Rivoli which is a department store, the perfect place to escape the heat! Lunch at Le Pin Quotidien had a great selection of salads, toasts and specials of the day! It was really really hot so we needed some time by the fan before heading out for dinner. Soya was the dinner spot and there are so many funky other places to choose from around this area.

Thursday

It was an early rise for the hike to the Sacré-Cœur. This was due to the heat as it was a good hour walk. Pastries at Du pain et des idees is an absolute must in Paris, it’s a popular spot for the locals and the line was out the door. Their pastries were delicious!!! Sacré-Cœur offers a really beautiful view over Paris making it well worth the many stairs leading up to it. We strolled down to Soul cafe for another coffee and a little breather from the heat.

We started our scenic walk to the Louvre (didn’t actually go in as there is too much to see) and Paris really lives up to the hype with so many alley ways and streets with cute shops!

On our way to the Eiffel Tower we walked down Rue des Saints-Peres street, this was a really great alley way with a mix of designer and vintage stores. Le Bon Marche is a beautiful designer department store that is worth a visit (if you’re into shopping). Our plan was to have a picnic under the Eiffel Tower and even with the extreme heat we were prepared to follow this through. There are plenty of trees to hide under and enjoy the magnificence of the tower.

After a good 6 hours of exploring Paris we had to Uber home as the walk was going to be a little much!

Our Air BnB is really close to funky (some would say hipster) food places. We stumbled across Season which is open all day and most of the night. A very impressive small menu with great variations. 8.5/10 🌟 We were in need of some strong refreshments after walking half a marathon.
