A great 9 hour sleep in the van! Can highly recommend Adare Camp Ground. After our camping breakfast we went back into Limerick to explore.
First stop is always coffee as we wandered through the Village. If you’re wanting to learn about the history of 12th century Ireland then you must visit King John’s Castle. The history lesson was very in-depth with videos, games, models and charts to learn from at your own speed. It’s incredible that these castles are still standing and walking through them is magical.
St Mary’s Cathedral is another historic spot. We didn’t go in but enjoyed strolling through the gardens.
The Milk Markets have some great food options. We were a day early as their Saturday markets are meant to be great. However we really enjoyed our galettes for lunch.

The road to Galway is super scenic. The narrow roads engulfed with green shrubs means you need to be careful driving a van! The Cliffs of Moher was a popular stop which we managed to time perfectly. James has done the research and figured it would be best to arrive later in the afternoon to avoid crowds. When we arrived around 3:30 and it was still very busy. Incredible views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and there is a lovely walk around the coast.

Top Tip:
A wind-breaker is essential as the gusts are very strong
We were very indecisive as to which camp ground to choose from. Both reviews for Salthill and O’Halloran’s were good so flipping a coin made the decision for us. Salthill was the winner and it’s quite funny that they are right next to each other. Anyway the view was beautiful, right on the water with a coastal walk that takes you right into town.
We were quite keen to go to Kai for dinner which was established by a Kiwi. Forgetting it was a busy Friday night we gambled the 4km walk there to find out it was fully booked. Nothing to get upset over as there was plenty to choose from and we settled on The Universal. Tasty tapas to share which we rate 8.5/10 with a dry rose and Guinness to pair. We decided to hike home and it was a beautiful Irish sunset and the blue sky meant many Irish were out swimming at 10pm.
