We arrived in Rome late and taxied straight to our Air B&B. Our lovely host Marleen was there to meet us and give us a few hot spots for dinner and for the rest of our trip. After a long time in transit without food, we needed a little something before bed. Unfortunately nothing was open as it was 11pm so Uber eats saved us there.
After a very restful sleep we had a slow morning with breakfast at Ginger. Fresh açaí bowls and coffee set us up for the day! They have plenty of other options if you would rather a meat and egg brekkie.
Campo de’ Fior is a 5 minute walk away. There were markets offering flowers, cheese, meats, and boutique clothing. Little restaurants line the square making it another perfect coffee stop…. or maybe something stronger if you like to start the day with a punch. Naturasi health store is a great spot to stock up on some basics!

Wow. It is seriously hot in Rome. It was around 35 and wandering the streets means you need water and a hat at all times. This city is amazing not only is there plenty of beautiful ancient buildings but they also have fresh water stations to ensure you can keep soaking in the beauty.
200 Gradi was our lunch stop. Plenty of sandwiches, salads and beers to choose from which prepared us well for the Vatican. Starting with a Top Tip here…..
Top Tip:
Definitely pre book we were able to skip the massive line in the sun and waltz right in.
The place is so so special. The architecture, paintings, sculptures and museum show the impressive history. It is so well worth the visit. However be prepared to hustle and enjoy this space with thousands of other people. We did get pushed and shoved a few times! The Sistine Chapel is breathtaking as the detail in each painting that lines this chapel wall to ceiling makes you appreciate the love and dedication to Catholism.

We were dripping with sweat in the heat so decided that taking the underground to the Spanish Steps was the best bet. We were so excited to see Kate, Giddy, Harry and Liv who were staying close by. We had a Campari and soda to catch up and enjoy the Rome atmosphere.
On our walk back we stopped at The Trevi Fountain to admire its beauty. With the heat and many miles walked we were definitely ready for dinner. Buddy’s was just around the corner from our place. James had a pizza and I had a caprese salad. Simple dishes but the freshness of multiple flavours complement each other perfectly.
