After stocking up on yummy breakfast items we cooked at home before heading to meet the Lurie’s at the Colosseum. The Pantheon is magnificent and the surrounding buildings in Rome are all sympathetic to these historic buildings.
You are surrounded by beauty which line the streets towards the Colosseum. We were organised and had booked tickets online for 11:30 so we didn’t have to wait long to get in once we were able to line up.
Top Tip:
do not go there till your ticked time as it is super hot and they are strict on time allocations. We had to wait under the shade for a while.

The pictures really don’t do this place justice. There is an optional audio tour and also displays around the foyer where you can learn about the architecture and the events that occurred in the Colosseum. It’s hard to fathom how many people have walked in here and the brutality that was shockingly entertaining.
Our lunch spot was Fuorinorma. Another little sandwich bar tucked away on the street. There cabinet was filled with all the Mediterranean food you could wish for and I was very excited to create my sandwich!
We walked home through the Ruins Foro Romano, it really is incredible that these sites are open and you are able to enjoy imagining events and people who have walked before you.

Happy hour was enjoyed at Campo de’ Fiori. This square is home to markets during the day then opens up the space to enjoy the restaurants in the evening.
Another delightful Italian spot for dinner where we had pizza and pasta! 8/10 🌟 I’m really amazed with all the of vegetarian and vegan options which are super tasty. We couldn’t have come to Rome without getting a gelato so we walked to a spot down the road from our place. Again so many dairy free options which I was happy about, and loved the hazelnut and pistachio flavours. James went double chocolate with a bit of spice.
Rome has an incredible rich atmosphere. There are so many people and places to see and enjoy.
