The road to Puglia was beautiful. We caught the train from Termini Station at 8:00am. The 4 hour journey went by very quickly as we were passing through the country side in very comfy seats. Emma and Jeremy were waiting for us at the station in Bari and we had lunch before arriving at our final destination.
An hour from Bari is the lovely Ostuni which is in Puglia. Ali and John have organised an incredible 10 days in the area for the whole family to celebrate John’s birthday. We are so so lucky as the place is the most beautiful old olive oil mill with a picturesque pool to add to our delight! Emma has organised many day activities and food places to enjoy and each night we take turns preparing a small feast in the limonetto (open dining room). Ali and John prepared a beautiful dinner to celebrate our first night together.
On Sunday we went to lunch in Ostuni town at a lovely place up the hill called Piazzetta Cattedarle. The menu offers traditional food in a fine-dining setting. 9/10 🌟 as the seafood was so fresh and tasty!
There are great supermarkets in town, a favourite of ours is the Famila. James and I had a great time gathering ingredients for dinner. The produce is fresh, there is a great variety and the vino is delicious with a very low price!
Top Tip:
Parking, narrow roads and navigating are a bit of a challenge. Make sure you look at a map bfore you venture out.
