Andernos-les-Bains

Thursday

After a final swim in the beautiful Biarritz ocean we walked to the markets for some breakfast. After sampling a few stalls we also found a great Bagel shop just opposite the markets on the main road. We always travel with snacks on travel days…..just in case. James and Aaron then ubered to the car rental place for our roadie to Andernos-les-Bains. It was a very easy 2 hour drive and we arrived at our massive Air BnB for 16 of us.

Top Tip:

Have plenty of coins for as there are quite a few tolls!

Our place was a 5 minute walk into town where there were plenty of fresh seafood places to choose from.

We went to La Cahute which served really lovely fresh oysters!

Friday

Everyone arrived very late Thursday night and after a stroll, swim and breakfast we started organising the very exciting master chief night. James was all over the logistics and broke the 16 of us into 4 groups; entree, main 1, main 2 and dessert. The groups were chosen at random, then the planning began! The Friday markets in town were perfect for a lot of the ingredients and after group shopping we had a relaxing afternoon by the pool.

The evening was a huge success with delicious and creative food served paired with signature cocktails.

Saturday

There are plenty of cafes to choose from in town, although most do not open till round 10 or even midday. The beach was the groups spot for the day. Beach Grand Crohot is a massive surf beach about 20 minutes from our place. The waves are quite ferocious so be careful and wear a good bikini for the waves.

We had a very relaxing Saturday night watching the All Blacks, playing cards and enjoying pizzas!

Sunday

We checked out of our accommodation and drove to Bordeaux airport to drop off the rental car before Ubering into town. Air BnB’s are the way to go in Europe and out host was super accommodating and let us store our bags before check in.

Top Tip:

Always fill up with petrol as they do charge quite a bit extra at the end!

We had a great time catching up with London friends!
