A black cab tour was high on our priority list so we made sure to secure our spot by booking the night before. We packed up our Air B&B then drove into the city Centre before our 11am tour began. Thomas met us outside City Hall and we hooped into the vintage black cab which would take us around for the next hour and a half.
I’ve never experienced a tour like this, the information, stories and sights were chilling with the brutal reality that these political wars were not long ago.

Thomas grew up in the Catholic area of Belfast in a time where it wasn’t at all safe. He lived in the worst of the wars with designated streets, gates and walls separating the Catholic and Prodestant community. Between 1969 and 1980 he had personal stories to share about witnessing the murder of friends and the assassinations of Catholic and IRA leaders. We were left shocked and speechless walking the streets and seeing the spots where 1,400 were murdered in this small 500m radius over the 11 years.
I could share so many more spine tingling facts, but then that would take away from the experience if you were ever to visit Belfast. This tour should be top of your list!!
We walked along the Titanic Quarter and enjoyed seeing the developments that are planned for this area.

Lunch was at Zizzi’s in Victoria Square. I’m super impressed with Ireland and their restaurants catering to any dietary requirements. We loved the pizzas!
After a little bit of retail therapy we went to a beer garden and absolutely loved spending time in this rare Irish sun. It was a stunning day and I actually felt warm!

Now we are on our way to Strangford to spend time with Peter and Caroline.
